So there is some confusion and ambiguity when watching InuYasha, especially on the matter of time.
Theory 1:
In essence, Time in the Human World is NOT equal to Time in the Yokai World.
In fact, we will be going on the theory that the Yokai world is not unlike Narnia in that time passes much more rapidly there.
The formula used for determining the age of your character will be:
For ages 0 to 10 demons grow 1 year older for every 2 years that pass.
For ages 10 to 15 demons grow 1 year older for every 10 years that pass.
For ages 15 to 20 demons grow 1 year for every 150 years that pass.
For ages 20+ demons grow 1 year for every 500 years that pass.
Note that these statistics are only for Immortal or extremely long-lived demons.
Half demons of immortal decent continue to age 1 year for every 150 years rather than continue the pattern for Immortals.
Next it is important to note that for every year that passes in the Human world, 10 years pass in the Yokai world.
So if a human were to travel to the Yokai world for 10 years, they would only age 1.
as an example of the aging process:
InuYasha was 200, but looked 17.
Kagome was 15 at the beginning of the show, but was 18 when it ended.
If Kagome ended up living the rest of her life in the Yokai world, she'd be nearly 800 by the time she'd likely die and InuYasha would look only 21 or 22 when she died.
that is ****uming humans of the human world don't take on immortal-like aging upon entering the Yokai world.
It is also important to note that humans from the Yokai world do not take on any of the traits mentioned for humans from the human world.
Theory 2:
Time in the Yokai world and time in the human world ARE equal.
the aging process for demons remains the same as in theory 1.
If a human were to spend time in the Yoaki world, they would age the same as they would in the Human world.
Kagome would grow old and die while InuYasha would remain approximately 17.
both setups are awaiting an official decision from Lindsey of course, but we did discuss the basics mentioned above already.
